Waqrapukara is an Inca fortress built atop two imposing rock horns at 4,300 m.a.s.l., in the province of Acomayo. ITINERARY:
- Transportation will pick you up between 5:00am and 5:30am from downtown Cusco.
- We travel approximately 3 hours toward the community of Pomacanchi or Sangarará (Acomayo province), with views of high Andean lagoons and traditional villages along the way. We make a brief stop for breakfast.
- We begin the trek of approximately 8 km one way, descending toward the Apurímac river canyon and then ascending among waterfalls and wild vegetation until reaching the base of the rocky horns. The guide will explain the history and architecture of the Inca citadel during the route.
- Free time at the summit to explore the ceremonial enclosures, terraces and platforms with panoramic views of the canyon. Box lunch in the area.
- Return to Cusco. Arrival near the main square (approx. 7:30pm).
