This challenging full-day excursion is tailored for trekking enthusiasts and high-mountain scenery lovers looking to witness one of the most astonishing geological phenomena in the world. Reaching altitudes above 5,000 meters above sea level, the circuit features a hike surrounded by glaciers and majestic Andean landscapes, complemented by essential safety equipment, meals, and professional assistance to guarantee a memorable experience.
ITINERARY
Hotel Pickup and Drive to Cusipata: We begin early in the morning by picking up passengers from their hotels in Cusco to start the overland journey south. Our first major stop will be at the community of Cusipata.
Energy Breakfast: Upon arriving in Cusipata, we will enjoy a delicious and comforting buffet breakfast, ideal for loading up on energy before starting the high-altitude trek.
Transfer to the Trailhead: We will continue driving toward the final end of the road (Phulawasipata), where we will organize our gear and receive final safety briefings from our professional guide before initiating the hike.
Ascent to Rainbow Mountain: We will start the uphill hike. Along the path, you will contemplate breathtaking panoramic views of the mountain range and the majestic snow-capped Ausangate mountain. (Note: For passengers who prefer not to walk, horse rentals are optionally available for hire directly from local community members at the trailhead).
Free Time at the Summit: Upon reaching the summit, located over 16,000 feet (5,000 m.s.n.m.), visitors can fully appreciate the 7 Color Mountain in all its splendor. We will have free time to take photos, listen to the guide's geological explanation, and immerse ourselves in the magical Andean environment.
Descent and Buffet Lunch in Cusipata: We will hike back down to the vehicle parking lot to board our tourist transport back to Cusipata, where we will enjoy a delicious and varied traditional buffet lunch.
Return to Cusco City: After lunch, we will board our vehicle to begin the return trip, arriving in the afternoon in the city of Cusco.
