ITINERARY
Departure from Cusco to Tipón: We begin our journey by departing from the city of Cusco, driving south towards the impressive Tipón Archaeological Complex, a true masterpiece dedicated to water. Here, we will appreciate its exceptional agricultural terraces, irrigation canals, and finely carved stone aqueducts created by the Incas, which continue to function flawlessly to this day with ancient precision.
Exploration of the Pikillacta Fortress: We continue our journey to Pikillacta, a massive pre-Inca walled citadel and fortress belonging to the Wari culture, constructed around 600 A.D. We will walk through its stone streets and ancient sectors to understand the advanced architectural planning of this pioneering civilization.
Gastronomic Route through Picturesque Villages: Along the way, we will pass through traditional Andean towns famous for their specialized local gastronomy. We will get to experience Oropesa, the bread capital known for its massive, sweet "Chuta" bread loaves; Saylla, highly renowned for its crispy pork chicharrones; Lucre, famous for its fresh trout and duck stews; and Tipón, celebrated for its traditional roasted guinea pig (cuy al horno).
Visit to the Andahuaylillas Church: We follow the historic route to the town of Andahuaylillas to visit the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, globally renowned as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas." Visitors will be amazed by its imposing golden altars covered in gold leaf, its beautiful Cusqueña school canvas paintings, and intricately decorated ceilings that make this temple a spectacular work of art.
Return to the Imperial City: Once our historical, cultural, and culinary loop is finished, we will board our tourist vehicle to return safely to downtown Cusco.
